Abstract: This research investigates the impact of sustainability certifications on vocational training in Nigeria, examining environmental sustainability standards, certifications, and green practices integrated into vocational education curricula to promote sustainable development, environmental stewardship, and industry alignment with global sustainability goals. Sustainability certifications in vocational training emphasize eco-friendly practices, renewable energy technologies, and green skills essential for preparing students for sustainable careers in emerging green industries and environmentally conscious sectors. The study aims to (1) assess the influence of sustainability certifications on vocational training quality, curriculum development, and student career opportunities, (2) analyze perceptions and experiences of stakeholders regarding the adoption and effectiveness of sustainability certification programs, and (3) propose recommendations for integrating sustainability certifications, enhancing green skills training, and advancing sustainable practices in vocational education to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable development goals. A survey research design is employed to gather insights from vocational educators, sustainability coordinators, and industry sustainability experts familiar with sustainability certification initiatives and outcomes. A sample size of 400 participants will be selected through purposive sampling to represent vocational educators, sustainability professionals, and industry leaders in Osun State. Case studies will examine successful sustainability certification programs and their outcomes in promoting environmental awareness, green technology adoption, and sustainable career pathways for vocational students. Findings indicated positive impacts of sustainability certifications on curriculum innovation, student engagement, and industry partnerships, identified challenges such as resource constraints and certification costs, and highlighted effective practices such as cross-disciplinary collaborations, hands-on projects, and industry certification pathways in advancing sustainability education in vocational training. Recommendations include expanding sustainability curriculum integration, promoting industry partnerships, and advocating for policy support to embed sustainability principles and practices into vocational education, fostering a sustainable workforce and contributing to environmental stewardship and economic growth.
